In 1999 I made my first and only trip to Cuba, I took hundreds of photos and when I returned to my studio in Cornwall I started a large series of oil paintings. I mainly work from photos and cuttings from magazines and newspapers and I particularly like the warmer colours which evoke countries with hotter climes. Alongside the paintings of often Cuban inspired architecture and interiors I’ve been trying to capture the extraordinary beauty of the tropical garden in a series of paintings, so as well as having Cuban art for sale I have several other themes.
